“Our family loved Darrin and our guided tour. He was enthusiastic, interesting, and listened to our wants and interests. We wanted to see kangaroos in the wild and knew exactly where to go… Most importantly, he always went that extra mile to make sure our stay in Cairns was all it could be. I cannot say enough about our great experience with Darrin.”

“We had an amazing tour with our guide, Darrin. Such a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable bloke… We saw so much in one day - amazing value for money. Darrin was happy to tailor the tour to include what we wanted to see, and to fit around the somewhat unpredictable weather conditions! Would strongly recommend to anyone who is going to be visiting Cairns and would like to see some beautiful nature.”

“Fantastic tour the crew could not do enough for you, in or out of the water… The crew’s knowledge and love for the reef is impressive. Food was as good as it gets. Darrin our guide for the three days we were in Cairns made it the best stay we’ve had on this touring holiday.”

Day One

You will be collected from your hotel accommodation in or near Cairns at approximately 7:30am. We will make sure you are securely delivered to the boat and crew before being left in their capable hands.

You will then cruise in comfort on a catamaran cruiser or sail in style on a 50 ft schooner. As you get underway, sample some Danish pastries, tea, coffee, or juice. During the day, lunch and afternoon tea will be served with a selection of fine cheeses, tropical fruit platters, cold meats, and seafood. In between enjoying these culinary delights, sip on a glass of wine, beer, cold water, or soft drink.

Travel to several fantastic island and outer reef destinations with some of the best natural coral reef displays on the Great Barrier Reef. These reefs are teeming with life and it's not uncommon to spot at least 100 different species of marine life in the one location. Enjoy the awe-inspiring colours of these particular reefs, adorned with vivid fish and other aquatic wildlife which compliment the crystal-clear underwater scene. It is no wonder that this natural wonder of the world has been heritage listed!

Scuba or snorkel to your hearts content on this full day outing that will touch all your senses in this underwater paradise. You will also get the chance to ride on a glass bottom boat, explore island sand cays, meet new friends, whale watch (in season), and soak up the sunshine of this Pacific Ocean paradise. Crew members are experienced deckhands providing five star customer service. They will answer all your questions about the marine park and its unique beauty, while teaching you how we can conserve this wonder of the world for generations to come.

You will then have the opportunity to return straight back to your hotel for a rest and freshen up for the night's meal or outing on the town before tomorrow's early start.

Day Two

Although pick-up is at 7:30 am, we will take the day at a relaxed pace. We begin your day-trip with a 90 minute drive out of the Cairns CBD up to the Atherton Tablelands. visiting one of two huge strangler fig Trees. This tree is over 500 years old and is indeed a spectacular giant of the rainforest.

From here, we will head to the Crater Lakes, a now serene and peaceful paradise, where we have opportunity to enjoy a relaxing Devonshire Tea served in the teahouse overlooking the lake. We will then take a short but informative rainforest walk partly around the lake after morning tea, where we will discover one of its best known botanical features, the twin Rough-Barked Kauri Pines - estimated to be nearly 1,100 years old! Our next destination is a similar scenic wonder and a great place for a quick swim in Summer, Lake Eacham.

Now we move to the North Johnstone River, where a local waterfall was created by the last flow of lava from the Malanda Shield Volcano, many thousands of years ago. Visit the hi-tech Malanda information centre here while you’re here, and afterwards, take on the two 20-minute walks in the surrounding rainforest. There is a strong possibility you will spot several unique tropical species of rainforest flora and fauna, including the Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo.

Now it will only be a short 20-minute drive to the most photographed waterfall in Australia, Millaa Millaa Falls. This is another great place for a quick dip on a hot day, especially with its invigorating massage from the cascade of mountain water. After your optional swim, we visit two other spectacular waterfalls. Just a short walk through the rainforest will reveal the majesty of these unique natural displays that are very easy to photograph like a professional.

It's lunch time! Lunch is a selection of hearty country meals, light salads, big dairyman's platters, or maybe an all-day breakfast. Whatever you fancy, these country kitchen hands can make it, and each meal caters to special dietary requirements.

While continuing down the Palmerston Highway towards Innisfail, stop at one or two spectacular lookouts for more photo opportunities. Once back down to sea level there will be time to visit either the Babinda Boulders or the picture-perfect Josephine Falls. Both destinations are in the midst of the Wooroonooran National Park, and provide great locations to both cool off on a hot day and to get those last spectacular photos of the tour.

As the sun sets over the mountains, it's time to relax in the air-conditioned vehicle on the way back to Cairns and reflect upon the new memories and friends made on this wonderful 2 day trip.
